This is the M+ Mobile Inflation exhibit. A bunch of inflatable sculptures placed at the West Kowloon Cultural Wasteland… I mean, West Kowloon Cultural District. Seriously, it’s an empty, undeveloped piece of land. What Cultural District? Even the govt seems to be ashamed of it as it’s ridiculously difficult to get to! If it weren’t for the event signage, I’d have no idea how to get there from them MTR.
Since this may pop up on Google here are the directions to the West Kowloon Cultural District from the MTR (handy if there’s exhibition signage to guide you):
- Head to MTR Kowloon station. That’s the one on the Tung Chung line.
- Get off the train at the Kowloon MTR station and head in the direction of exit D but DON’T exit there. If you find yourself in Elements Mall, you’ve gone too far.
- You’ll see a set of escalators going up to Elements Mall, ignore them and go under them to the exit of the station (not a lettered exit, just a way out) that leads to the taxi area.
- Once you’re out of the glass doors, turn left and walk straight till you see a vehicular exit on your right. Yes, you’re looking for a place where the vehicles exit the station.
- Turn right, walk out of the vehicular exit and on to the street. Congratulations, you’ve made it out of the mall on foot! For Elements, this is a major feat! Pat yourself on the back!
- Now turn left and walk straight down. Keep on going till you hit a roundabout.
- Across the roundabout is the West Kowloon Cultural District / Promenade. You’ve found it! Good job!
