This is a water chain also known as a rain chain. It’s a functional and decorative item that you’ll usually find in temples. Rather than having a waterspout or having rain water just splash out of the gutters, rain chains are used. They guid the water down from the gutters so that it doesn’t come pouring out willy-nilly. The chain acts as a guide, allowing the water to flow along it.
