A lot of pipes and plumbing in old buildings in Hong Kong are on the outside. You’ll see pipes running all over the exterior of building, on the back side of course. A lot of the piping is also jury-rigged like you see in this pic. Lots of pipes are routed to the external rain gutter to drain off water.
