Now you’re thinking what the heck is a bus periscope? Well you see in Hong Kong a large majority of the buses are of the double-decker variety. Given that, how would the driver (who would be down below, driving the bus) be able to keep an eye on what’s going on on the upper deck?
Well it’s with a low tech device like this. This is part of the bus periscope system. The bus driver is directly below this pane of glass. Directly above this pane of glass is a mirror that’s angled to the back of the bus. So all the bus driver has to do is glance up and he’ll be able to see what’s going on on the upper deck. In fact, if you look down this pane of glass, you’d likely see the driver staring back at you.
