The original leather yellow ribbon workshop at OccupyHK Admiralty has stopped making leather yellow ribbons (well they’ve scaled back a lot; other workshops have taken up the slack). They now concentrate on making brass ribbons embossed with “we love HK”. They come with a slip of paper with a lovely narrative likening the forging / forming of the brass ribbons to the trials of the Umbrella Movement and likening how brass fades and tarnishes over time to how the experiences and passions for the Umbrella Revolution will fade over time too, they then say that they hope the brass ribbon will help you remember and recall what you’re fighting for. Really nice narrative. Because it’s harder and more time-consuming to make, the brass ribbons are made during the weekdays and given out on weekends.
